Total Time: 20 mins
Cuisine: Baby Food
Serves: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
  2. 1 medium apple, peeled and chopped
  3. 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly clean the carrots and apple. Peel both vegetables carefully, removing all skin.
  2. Chop the carrots and apple into small, uniform cubes approximately 1/2 inch in size to ensure even cooking.
  3. Place the chopped carrots and apple into a small saucepan. Add 1/2 cup of clean, filtered water to the pan.
  4. Cover the saucepan with a lid and place over medium-low heat. Allow the vegetables to simmer gently.
  5. Cook the vegetables for approximately 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. The carrots and apple should become very soft and tender.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the cooked vegetables cool for 2-3 minutes to reduce temperature.
  7. Transfer the cooked vegetables and remaining liquid to a blender or food processor. Puree until completely smooth with no chunks.
  8. If the puree seems too thick, add a small amount of water or breast milk to achieve desired consistency for baby.
  9. Let the puree cool completely before serving. Test temperature on the inside of your wrist to ensure it's not too hot.
  10. Store unused portion in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, or freeze in small portions for later use.

Tips

  1. Choose organic produce when possible to minimize exposure to pesticides
  2. Ensure all utensils and cooking equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized
  3. Cut vegetables into uniform sizes for even cooking and consistent texture
  4. Use filtered water to guarantee the purest ingredients for your baby
  5. Always test the temperature before serving to prevent any potential burns
  6. If your baby shows signs of allergies, introduce one ingredient at a time and wait a few days between new foods
  7. For added nutrition, you can experiment with a tiny pinch of cinnamon once your baby is a bit older
  8. Consider freezing puree in small ice cube trays for convenient, portion-controlled meals
  9. Consult with your pediatrician about introducing new foods and appropriate timing
